First you got to identify which keyword relevant to your industry are searched most, you can do this by look at wordtracker tool and google keyword suggestion tool. Once you identify which keyword are highly searched, then you got to set a path to bring traffic of potential customer to your website. This is called keyword analysis that which keyword is right for your business.
Meta Basic – Title of 70 characters, Description of 150 characters and Keywords of 20 words is required in each page and your keyword should be repeated in all three metas. For example

OK, I have just finished writing a guide to this very topic, so here is the nuts and bolts of it without getting too techy (cause we dont need that!)
What are meta tags? They are information inserted into the “head” area of your web pages. Other than the title tag (see below), information in the head area of your web pages is not seen by those viewing your pages in browsers. Instead, meta tags are used to communicate information that a visitor may not be concerned with. Meta tags, for example, can tell a browser what “character set” to use or whether a web page has a restricted rating.
In ENGLISH:
Meta Title: creates the name of your site in the top banner (yahoo answers on this site)
Meta Description: creates the subtext in the SERPS under the hypertext Meta Title(generally speaking)
Meta Keyword: The meta keywords tag allows you to provide additional text for crawler-based search engines to index along with your body copy. But this does not help you! And that’s because most crawlers now ignore the tag.
